Optimization of Parameters of an Artificial Aerosol Layer for Radiation Frost Protection

A. M. Abshaev and Kh. Zh. Malkarov

Data are presented on losses from frosts in the Southern Federal Region of Russia. Problems are considered of optimization for radiation frost protection, based on production of artificial smoke layers and fogs. Studies of infrared radiation attenuation by aerosol of different dispersion and simulation of aerosol turbulent diffusion show that, within the atmospheric transmittance window, a sufficient greenhouse effect can be provided by an artificial aerosol layer, containing not less than 1011 m–2 aerosol particles of 1.5–2 μm size. An estimate is presented of economical expediency of the optimized methods for the radiation frost protection.
