Frost Condensation of Sulfur Dioxide and Snow Surface Pollution

M. P. Tentyukov

Discussed is the mechanism of snow cover pollution caused by the frost condensation of sulfur dioxide. Given are the results of observations of sulfur dioxide concentration variations in the upper snow layer. The temperature gradient value in the surface inversion layer is considered as a determining factor of frost condensation. It was supposed that the role of this process in the formation of aerial technogenic pollution of the snow surface on the territories with a stable snow cover becomes more significant under climate warming conditions.
