Empirical data on the spatial and temporal variability of integral atmospheric transparency (turbidity) in the last quarter of the 20th century are analyzed. The territory of Russia is tentatively divided into several regions according to the annual course, variability, and mean value of atmospheric turbidity. The regional manifestation of the El Chichon and Pinatubo eruptions is considered in terms of the intensity, duration, and nature of their impact. The positive trend of atmospheric transparency increase over Russia is estimated.
