INFLUENCE OF METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS ON ANAEROBIC PROCESSES IN DIMICTIC WATER BODIES IN WINTER (BY EXAMPLE OF LAKE GLUBOKOE, RUZA AREA, MOSCOW REGION)

S. I. Shaporenko

With a special reference to Lake Glubokoe, it is shown that the degree of the autumn aeration and development of the winter anoxia processes in hypolimnion of the dimictic water bodies can be described with parameters similar to summer stagnation. The maximum mean air temperature for 64 days before the lake is frozen and the 37-day averaged diurnal amplitude of air temperature have the largest influence on the development of the bottom anaerobic layer. Unlike the summertime, the wind strengthening before the lake is frozen stimulates the development of anaerobic processes in the water body. Atmospheric precipitation manifests its maximum aeration capacity 5—6 days before the lake is frozen. The possibility of evaluating the degree of aeration in dimictic water bodies and forecasting bottom anoxia in the wintertime from the meteorological conditions in the period before freeze-up is dealt with.
