A comparative analysis of results of continuous calculations of wind-wave elements with the often-used models (WAM Cycle-4, WAVEWATCH-III v. 1.18, and AARI-PD2) is performed for the period from 1 January 1990 to 31 December 1992. Statistical estimates of the accuracy of calculations with the models are obtained. The intercomparison of the results and NORDKAPP/ST buoy measurements in the Barents Sea has shown no significant differences between the models. However, all models underestimate wave heights in severe storms compared to measurements. Wave heights from the AARI-PD2 model turn out to be most accurate. It is shown that the AARI-PD2 model is as good as western analogues and in a number of cases its accuracy is even better.
