CALCULATION OF SURFACE EVAPORATION FROM WATER BODIES IN DELTA AREAS OF RUSSIA'S SOUTHERN SEAS

Modern methods of calculation of evaporation from the water surface are analyzed, and a method of empirical formulas based on surface meteorological observations is proposed. The errors of calculation by the well-known empirical formulas are compared. The proposed method is intended to implement the evaporation model described by the formula of A. P. Braslavskii (1985). The meteorological quantities over the water surface are obtained by recalculation of observational data from nearby meteorological stations using the procedures described in [5, 6, 11]. The surface water temperature is calculated by the heat-balance method [4, 6]. A computer program is developed and is used to calculate surface evaporation from water bodies in delta areas of Russia's southern seas: in the Kurchanskii Lagoon, the Gulf of Taganrog, and an abstract water body in the Volga Delta. The evaporation depths calculated by the proposed method are compared with those determined from evaporator data.
