NUMERICAL MODELING OF TURBULENCE STRUCTURE PARAMETERS IN THE ATMOSPHERIC BOUNDARY LAYER

S. P. Beschastnov and V. N. Ivanov

A numerical second-order turbulence closure model of the atmospheric boundary layer is developed to calculate structure characteristics. The model is based on differential equations for meteorological elements and turbulence characteristics. The model estimates of structure parameters obtained for convective conditions in the lower atmosphere agree reasonably with empirical relationships. Input data in numerical experiments are the data of daytime aerological radiosounding at the Rostov-on-Don station in the warm seasons of 1978—1990.
