ENERGY OF THE BLACK SEA CLIMATIC CIRCULATION. PART II: NUMERICAL ANALYSIS OF CLIMATIC ENERGY

S. G. Demyshev

Analysis of the energy fluxes for the Black Sea climatic circulation is performed. Intense energy exchange occurs in five zones. They are located along a deep slope of the northwestern shelf, in the western part of the Anatolian coast, in the southwestern corner of the sea, in the central part of the Caucasian shore, and in the eastern Crimea. The deep slope along the northwestern shelf and the coastal zone of the eastern Anatolian shore are the downwelling areas, and the coastal zone on the Caucasian shore is the upwelling zone. The southeastern sea corner is the region of the most intense seasonal and intraseasonal variability, which is characterized by a frequent change of sign in the energy fluxes. Near the Crimean Peninsula, upwelling is observed in the winter period and downwelling occurs in the summer period.
