MODEL ESTIMATES OF THE INFLUENCE OF VEGETATION COVER ON PERMAFROST DEGRADATION UNDER GLOBAL WARMING

E. K. Molkentin, E. D. Nadezhina, and O. B. Shklyarevich

Spatial distribution of the depth of seasonal thaw and ground temperature is adjusted with respect to the vegetation cover features. For Western Siberia, these distributions are obtained for the present climate and for a doubling of atmo¬spheric CO2. In order to estimate temperature fields under tree tops, an atmo¬spheric boundary layer model is employed. Possible impacts of the forest fire trace on permafrost characteristics are estimated.
