ASSESSMENT OF HYDROECOLOGICAL SAFETY OF RIVER MOUTHS

N. I. Alekseevskii, D. N. Aibulatov, and D. V. Magritskii

The concept of hydroecological safety of river mouths (HESRM) is proposed. It links conditions of economically efficient and ecologically secure resources use for a particular combination of natural factors and anthropogenic loads. A method of HESRM failure hazard estimation under the effect of fluvial, marine, hydromorphological, geological, and other factors is discussed. Based on this method, the HESRM reliability in the Terek, Sulak, and Kuban river mouths is estimated. All three river mouths are destabilized, particularly the Terek mouth, where HESRM reliability is low.
