INTEGRAL ATMOSPHERIC HUMIDITY PARAMETERS OVER OCEANS FROM THE MIVZA MICROWAVE RADIOMETER INFORMATION

M. V. Bukharov, T. Kh. Geokhlanyan, and Yu. B. Khapin

The problems of retrieval of the integral water vapor content, cloud liquid water content, and precipitation intensity over oceans using the information from the MIVZA microwave radiometer mounted on the Meteor-3 No. 1 satellite are considered. The results of retrieval of these parameters in the regions of midlatitude cyclones, intertropical convergence zone clouds, and tropical cloudless atmosphere are dealt with. The results are compared with the radiosonde data and with the charts of similar parameters compiled using the AMSU data. Possible causes of the difference between maximum values of the atmospheric humidity parameters retrieved from the MIVZA and AMSU information are under discussion.
