THE STRENGTH OF SEA ICE COVER

V. A. Nikitin and S. M. Kovalev

The features of models for calculating the compressive strength of sea ice are analyzed with and without regard to a scale effect. A comparative analysis of results of calculations from the models chosen is made for a wide range of ice temperatures and thicknesses. It is shown that the estimation of ice strength with regard to a scale effect brings the calculated values of loads closer to actual ones under interaction of ice fields.
