THE INFLUENCE OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUDS ON VERTICAL PROFILES OF HEAT, MOISTURE, AND MOMENTUM

R. B. Zaripov

Results from a numerical study of the influence of Cb clouds on the vertical distribution of heat, moisture, and momentum are presented. A three-dimensional numerical Cb model is used which is based on anelastic equations of deep convection. On the basis of numerical experiments with different thermodynamic profiles, contributions of various physical processes to changes in vertical profiles of meteorological elements are estimated at different stages of the Cb development. It is found that the maximum effect on the vertical profile of potential temperature is due to water vapor condensation and to precipitation evaporation.
