Peculiarities of Interannual and Seasonal Variationsof the Barents Sea Ice Coverage Anomalies

A. P. Zhichkin

Presented are the results of studying the interannual and seasonal variations of the Barents Sea ice coverage anomalies in 1899–2013. Homogeneous periods with the prevailing sign of anomalies are singled out using the electronic long-term database on sea ice conditions. Revealed are the pecu- liarities of seasonal fluctuations of ice coverage anomalies during the periods of maximum (February– April) and minimum (August–September) propagation of ice in the sea water area. The analysis of the temporal distribution and frequency of significant and very significant anomalies of ice coverage in recent 115 years is carried out using the created calendar of the anomalies of ice conditions in the Barents Sea.
