Estimation of Monthly Sums of Total Solar Radiation at Snow-free Surface from Cloud Observations

An empirical formula is proposed for calculating monthly sums of total solar radiation at the snow-free surface from cloud observations and empirical parameters characterizing the optical properties of different cloud layers.
