Mesoscale Weather Short-range Forecasting at the Hydrometcenter of Russia, on the Example of COSMO-RU

The current systems for operative mesoscale weather forecasting, as well as those projected for the next two years, are reviewed. A conception is presented of development, on an example of COSMO-RU, a system for short-range weather forecasting at the level of the best analogs, along with description of the corresponding work at the Hydrometcenter of Russia during last years, within the framework of the International Consortium of COSMO, aiming to realize the conception.
