SEASONAL FEATURES OF SEA SURFACE TEMPERATURE ANOMALIES IN THE NORTH ATLANTIC

E. S. Nesterov

The relationships between integral characteristics of atmospheric forcing and characteristics of long-term active-ocean thermal structure anomalies in the North Atlantic are studied on the basis of correlation and composite analysis of the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data. The anomalous air—sea heat fluxes during spring (May—June) and fall (November) transformations of the active-ocean thermal structure are shown to play an important role in the temperature regime of the ocean.
