LAKE BOTTOM SEDIMENTS AS AN INDICATOR OF DYNAMIC FACTORS

I. V. Nedogarko, Yu. N. Kuznetsova, and F. Yu. Reshetnikov

From the results of sounding of silt sediments in Valdai lakes is is shown that the level change under the influence of climatic factors or anthropogenic regulation is responsible for the formation of the sites of washed-off silt sediments that possess characteristics of the initial climatic period. In the course of sedimentation of organic matter, it is redistributed in the lake under the effect of quasi-stationary circulation, and sediments of different depth are formed. Phosphorus retention coefficients obtained empirically and analytically for the lake system Valdai—Uzhin and for Lake Chudsko-Pskovskoe are compared.
