CLIMATOLOGY OF VORTICITY AND CYCLOGENESIS IN THE TROPICAL ATMOSPHERE OF THE NORTHERN HEMISPHERE

The anomaly of relative vorticity is used to characterize tropical storms and hurricanes. This anomaly is evaluated as four standard deviations from the mean value. Analysis of the composite model of tropical anomaly demonstrates that a major contribution to the increase in relative vorticity is made by the geostrophic components of the vorticity balance equation.
