THEORETICAL AND APPLIED ASPECTS IN USING SPECTRAL WIND WAVE MODELS

G. V. Matushevskii and I. M. Kabatchenko

Numerous applications of spectral models in various fields of science and technology are listed. With reference to several typical examples from shipbuilding, navigation, and hydraulic engineering it is shown that different kinds of wave information needed for the solution of these problems can be provided only with the help of discrete models. The ways of model improvements are determined based on the analysis of available published data. The problem of developing a future system of coupled models of aerohydrodynamic processes in the near-surface layer of the ocean is particularly emphasized.
