INTERANNUAL RENEWAL OF THE COLD INTERMEDIATE LAYER IN THE BLACK SEA OVER THE LAST 130 YEARS

V. B. Titov

The thermal water structure in different winter atmospheric thermal conditions is examined. It is found that the formation and renewal of the cold intermediate layer (CIL) does not occur in warm and anomalously warm winters. The renewal (partial) of the CIL occurs in normal winters. The full renewal of the CIL taakes place in cold and anomalously cold winters. An empirical probability of the winters with different atmospheric thermal conditions for 130 years (1872—2001) is calculated.
