USE OF SATELLITE MONITORING DATA ON BIOTA ACTIVITY IN THE ANALYSIS OF ATMOSPHERIC CO2 FIELD FORMATION

M. Ya. Antonovskii, V. M. Bukhshtaber, V. A. Pivovarov

A space-time dynamics of seasonal cycles of the atmospheric CO2 concentration field was analyzed. Most of the CO2 global monitoring network stations show the growth of seasonal cycle amplitudes of global CO2 monitoring network stations show the growth of seasonal cycle amplitudes of global CO2 monitoring. Three methods were used to obtain the stable estimates of seasonal cycle amplitudes for two vegetation activity indices (NDVI and GEMI) in the control areas of North America and Eurasia. No steady variations in duration and dates of the beginning and end of a vegetation: activity in the control areas were found. A weak growth (~0.4% per year) of the amplitudes of seasonal cycle of the NDVI and GEMI indices was revealed. It is shown that the interannual dynamics of these amplitudes is similar in both areas.
