EFFECT OF AIR TEMPERATURE ON FORMATION AND DESTRUCTION OF ICE JAMS AND ICE-JAM STAGES ON THE LENA RIVER NEAR LENSK

V. V. Kilmyaninov

The effect of air temperature on the formation of ice-jam and ice-jam stages on the Lena River near Lensk the day before the river debacle and during the ice drift is considered. Diagrams and equations recommended for calculations and prediction of ice-jam formation and the highest ice-jam stages are given. The effect of antijam measures on a jam duration and a height of jam water rise is estimated and the recommendations to use these estimates are given.
