A SEMI-EMPIRICAL MODEL OF A DEEP CONVECTIVE CLOUD

M. T. Abshaev, L. G. Kaplan, and E. I. Nesis

Based on fundamental hydrodynamic laws and empirical space distributions of microphysical parameters, a theoretical model of a very deep convective cloud has been developed to describe its structure and dynamics. In the framework of this model, the well-known observational data are interpreted: the updraft position in the right part of the cloud (in the direction of its motion) in the Northern Hemisphere and in the left part in the Southern Hemisphere, general airmass rotation; a slower motion of the cloud in the direction of the steering flow and its right and left deflection; the anvil in the cloud top; and generation of new cells in the frontal (right or left) part of the cloud.
