ASSESSMENT OF MEAN MONTHLY ANOMALIES OF REGIONAL SURFACE TEMPERATURE FIELD FROM AVERAGED CHARACTERISTICS OF THE GLOBAL FIELD

A multivariate statistical model is constructed to retrieve the monthly means of the temperature field at the CIS meteorological stations in a region from the monthly means of the global temperature field. The model for solution of the inverse problem can reconstruct the anomalies of regional mean monthly temperature field with an accuracy to ~ 1ºC. It is found that the improved accuracy of the inverse problem solution depends on the scale of global field averaging. The methods of reduction and statistical regularization are intercompared theoretically.
